ITUNES WONT OPEN

A common problem many iTunes users are having is that iTunes won't open on their computer.

The most frequent cause of iTunes not opening is related to Windows and the Norton Internet Security or the Norton Personal Firewall. This is because frequently Norton is not configured to allow iTunes or Quicktime access.
This can be resolved by updating the security features. By visiting Symantec, users can download and install the latest firewall definitions. This will allow iTunes and Quicktime to launch, and connect to the internet. After installation, the computer should be rebooted and this should allow the iTunes program to work.

If the user's version of iTunes won't open still, it may be that there is an unusable configuration file. To resolve this issue, go to the tools menu in the My Computer window and select Folder Options.
Click the View tab, and open the Advanced Settings pane. Under the Hidden Files and Folders listing, make sure that Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.

Navigate to the following location, either by copying and pasting or clicking through the listed folder hierarchy:
(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC) Info

Right click on the SC Info.sidb file and on the drop-down menu, choose delete. Then restart the computer and try opening iTunes again.

This should solve the issue the user was having, where iTunes won't open.
